"Jesus Wept" - John 11:35
Mrs. Patricia Marie Kelly Collins, 69, of Moreland, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Mrs. Collins was born June 21, 1955, in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late James Francis Kelly and Anne Marie Coviello Kelly. A resident of Georgia since 1980, she served as a full-time teacher for the Coweta County School System and retired from Moreland Elementary School. She served as an area director for Pine Valley Girl Scout Council. She was very active in Christian Education, serving in Vacation Bible Schools and Awana Programs and faithfully served as a member of First Baptist Church of Moreland. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafts of all kinds. From the early days of her marriage to George, she filled the home with lots of love and cats. She loved cooking for her growing family as she was a devoted grandmother to 12, and her love was evident through her joy in any opportunity to mention them in conversation.

Collins III (Kimberly) of Newnan, James Collins (Ansley) of Senoia, Daniel Collins (Czarina) of Redwood City, CA; sisters, Jeanne Marotta of Gainesville, FL, Cathy Kelly of Hudson, FL; and brother, Donald Kelly of Port Richey, FL. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 5, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Ron Wildes and the Reverend Todd Slade CENTER officiating. After the service, all are welcome to join the family in fellowship at 12:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 4.

Mrs. Pat was such a warm, kind presence in my life when I was little. I always felt safe and accepted around her. She just had this gentle way of making everyone feel welcome. She made a lasting impact. I’m thinking of her family and sending so much love and prayers.

Patricia was always caring and looking out for me. I loved our visits together through the years and all the times we shared. I had three young children, aged 5, 3 and 1 and was pregnant with my fourth child when she discovered that I took all my children with me to my dentist appointments, because I had no family or babysitter to watch them. She came and babysat for me so I could go by myself, and then after that, she came and took care of the children when my husband had two discs ruptured in his back. She became the godmother to my fourth child, Laura Rowan. I loved her with my whole heart and I’m gonna miss her terribly.

We met when I was just a boy. You were always proud of me and made me feel special, even when I wasn't proud of myself. You embodied love, compassion, and kindness in everything you did. I'll carry with me the love you taught me forever. I love you mom.
